Leigh Nichols (Dean Koontz). The House Of Thunder. Piatkus 1983. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. This a first printing of the UK first edition as indicated by the “First published in Great Britain in hardcover in 1983 by Judy Piatkus (Publishers) Limited” statement with no subsequent printings/impressions mentioned. Original purple boards with gold blocking to spine, white endpapers. Tail of spine somewhat flattened with light rubbing to all lower edges, back panel a touch soiled with a bump to the left edge. Book is slightly cocked and has clearly been read though the binding is very sound (merits of a sewn block). The text block is quite heavily age discoloured with some foxing otherwise this would have been a very good grading. Colours on the DJ are very well saturated. There are some pressure marks to the front panel, some light soiling and creasing to the back panel, both front and rear flaps show some creasing but there is very little in the way of edge rubbing. £7.95 price is intact on front flap. Written by Dean Koontz under his Leigh Nichols pseudonym this is a very scarce edition and whilst this isn’t the greatest copy by any means still presents very well on the shelf and represents excellent value if you can’t run to the couple of hundred a minter would cost.
