Graham Masterton. The Djinn. W H Allen 1983. First Thus. Hard Cover. Near Fine / Near Fine. Originally published as a paperback original in 1977 by Star Paperbacks this is a first printing of the UK first hardback edition as indicated by the “W H Allen 1983” statement on the title page and the “This edition 1983” statement on the copyright page with no subsequent printings mentioned. Sharp clean black boards with gold blocking to spine, white endpapers. A tight square unread copy Internally clean with no signs of previous ownership, store/library stamps etc. Text block age discoloured as you would expect and the upper edge shows a little light dust soiling. But for a rub to the upper tip of the front flap fold the DJ is in superb condition showing only the lightest of edge wear. There were two states of this DJ. The first state has an £8.95 price and the font used for “Bestselling author of The Manitou” is much more blocky/heavier than that used on the second state. My understanding is that most of the first state DJ’s were clipped and a W H Allen price sticker showing £11.95 affixed. The second state used the lighter font on the front panel text and had a printed £11.95 price on the front flap. This is the second state DJ, identified as such by the lighter text font, and has been price clipped. A fantastic copy of a book which is ultra rare and would be a wonderful addition to any Masterton collection.
