Shaun Hutson. Spawn. W H Allen 1983. First edition. Hard Cover. Very Good / Fine. This a first printing of the UK first edition as indicated by the "W H Allen 1983" indicator on the title page and no subsequent printings mentioned on the copyright page. Clean olive boards with immaculate gold blocking to spine. All four corner tips bumped though, particularly on the rear board. Head and tail of spine a little flattened. The book appears to have been carefully read but stands very square and still feels quite tightly bound when you open it. Text block is clean if a little age discoloured as is common with books from this publisher/period - (note it appears worse than it actually is because the endpapers are a different paper and blindingly white - the text block was never particularly white to begin with!). The FEP shows signs of a previous sellers price being erased - not by me I hasten to add! The DJ is very well preserved marred only by a little rubbing to the head of the spine, the most minor rubs to the upper tips of the flap folds and a smidgeon of rubbing/creasing to the upper edge of the back panel. £8.95 price is intact on the front flap. Overall a very nice collectable copy of an extraordinarily scarce edition. When I first started collecting it took me nearly three years to get one of these - many sellers have the much more common 1988 reprint edition and misidentify it so be careful!!
