James Herbert. The Survivor. New English Library 1976. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine / Fine. This a first printing of the UK first edition as indicated by the “First published in Great Britain by New English Library …. in 1976” statement with no subsequent printings mentioned. Sharp clean dark grey boards, immaculate gold blocking to spine, white endpapers. Tail of spine ever so slightly flattened. A tight almost square copy. The block shows significant resistance when opened and to me it appears to be unread. Internally clean with no signs of previous ownership, store / library stamps etc. Pages are a little age discoloured as common with NEL books from the 1970’s. The DJ is in wonderful condition (which further suggests to me this book is unread). Clean and bright with no spine fading at all there is just a touch of very faint edge creasing and the occasional very small pressure spot. The £4.50 price is intact on the front flap. I have owned a few of these over the years and this is by far the nicest DJ I have seen. A rare edition and particularly hard to locate in such nice condition. This copy would grace any Herbert collection.
