Stephen King. The Shining. New English Library 1977. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good / Very Good. This a first printing of the UK first edition as indicated by the “First published in Great Britain by New English Library …. in 1977” statement with no subsequent printings/impressions mentioned and the print code R49 in the gutter of page 447. Black boards with gold blocking to spine, white endpapers. Minor bump to the upper rear corner tip, head and tail of spine a little crunched/flattened, gold blocking very well preserved. Book has a very slight lean appearing partially read. Text block appears clean though a little age discoloured as common (not as bad as many). The DJ shows some edge wear/ rubbing to all edges and the tips of the flap folds with a small chip to the upper tip of the front spine hinge and a couple of minor nicks to the upper edge of the back panel. Back panel also has a faint vertical crease and light surface rubbing. Front flap has been price clipped. Overall a very decent example of a rare UK first edition and even with its faults presents very well on the shelf.
