James Herbert. Fluke. New English Library 1977. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine / Very Good. This a first printing of the UK first edition as indicated by the “First published in Great Britain by New English Library …. in 1977” statement with no subsequent printings mentioned. Black boards with gold blocking to spine, white endpapers. Tail of spine ever so slightly flattened. Front board clean, upper right corner slightly bumped. Rear board clean with sharp edges, upper left corner tip ever so slightly turned. Book has a slight lean but if read then very carefully done – still shows some resistance when opened. Internally clean with no signs of previous ownership, store/library stamps etc. Pages nice and cream with little if any age discolouration. Upper edge of text block a little dust soiled. DJ not too shabby at all. Spine is sun faded, very lightly creased at the head and tail. Front cover clean showing just a little light creasing to the top edge. Rear cover the same, very lightly rubbed at the tips of the flap folds. £4.50 price intact on front flap. Overall a super copy of a very rare edition and if not for the sun faded spine likely as nice a copy as you will find these days.
