James Morgan

James Morgan has led high profile and sensitive assignments in service and manufacturing industries and in the public sector. These have included helping small and start-up companies in biotechnology and other sectors and a wide range of assignments for Government.

These include a report on the feasibility of taxing unemployment and incapacity benefits and on the efficiency of PAYE systems for the Inland Revenue; for the MOD to report on the schools of music, on the surplus of married quarters and on the life costing of weapon systems; for the DTI to report on the organisation and activities of the national tourism organisations, on the use of business statistics and to help in setting up an inward investment organisation; and for the Scottish Office to lead a major policy evaluation of the work of drug actions teams throughout Scotland.

James has degrees in Engineering from Cambridge and Birmingham Universities and began his career as a production engineer in high volume manufacturing businesses. He was a consultant for Arthur Young, then Ernst & Young, before forming MHB with John Burrows and David Harris in 1991.

Recently retired as a full-time partner of MHB, James is now Consultant to MHB and still actively engaged in a number of assignments
